About Alnmouth
Once an important 18th-century trading port, the village’s fortunes changed dramatically after a huge storm in 1806 altered the river’s course, leaving the harbour stranded and shaping the quieter, scenic destination you see today.
Outstanding natural beauty – Located within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s ideal for coastal walks, wildlife spotting, and simply slowing down.
Expansive sandy beach – A huge, open stretch of golden sand perfect for dog walks, picnics, or just taking in the sea air.
The River Aln estuary – Creates a unique landscape of dunes, tidal waters, and birdlife, popular with walkers and photographers. Charming village feel – Think cosy pubs, delis, and tearooms lining a small, welcoming high street.
